Los Angeles – A former security guide was accused on Tuesday of killing the dean of a small technical school near Los Angeles last week, authorities reported.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Cameisha Denise Clark, died at the hospital on Monday afternoon after receiving a shot on Friday at the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology campus in Inglewood, according to his family. Another employee was also injured.
Jesse Figueroa, 40, was accused of murder, attempted murder and several positions for possession of a firearm as a criminal. It also faces aggravating ones, which add additional penalties when a weapon is used during a crime. He was previously convicted of theft and threats, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Chris Becker, president of the Campus, said Figueroa worked for a security company.
-Figueroa will appear before the Court on May 29 and face a maximum life sentence sentence in a state prison if it is convicted of the charges.
Clark’s family reported that he had recently been promoted to Dean of the university.
“Cameisha inspired all those who were fortunate to cross their way,” his family told Knbc.
“His leadership, integrity and deep sense of purpose helped forge the future of innumerable students, from the Camark de Atlanta university campus to Spartan College. He believed in the potential of others, even when they still did not see it in themselves,” they added.
