The case of Ovid Guzmán In the United States, a turn that could affect another member of the Sinaloa cartel which also faces justice in that country for drug trafficking: Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada.
According to judicial records released last Tuesday, Joaquín’s son ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán would be about to reach an agreement to plead guilty of the positions faced in the North District of Illinois.
With this, it was known that Ovid Guzmán could declare himself guilty in his next audience programmed for next July 9. This despite the fact that, at first, the drug trafficker had declared himself innocent of charges such as: possession of drugs with the intention of distributing them, carrying a firearm, participating in a continuous criminal company and money laundering.
The journalist J. Jesús Lemus points out that this agreement, in addition to granting certain benefits to Ovid Guzmán, would imply that he becomes Protected witness of the US government. Under that figure, it could declare Before the judicial authorities against May Zambada, in case the Sinaloense Capo goes to trial.
“The participation of Ovid Guzmán as a protected witness is of the utmost importance (…) May Zambada could now have as its main witness accused his former partner Ovidio Guzmán, son of his compadre Joaquín Guzmán Loera, El Chapo,” said Lemus.
The above could intensify the armed confrontation inside the Sinaloa cartel, particularly between the faction of The Mayiza (linked to May Zambada) and The Chapitos (directed by other children of ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán).
“Ovidid Guzmán has decided to bring the confrontation between the Mayos and the Chapitos to the United States Judicial Courts, where Ovid will soon see ‘the Mouse’ Guzmán Deposando against Ismael Zambada García,” said the journalist in a publication of Cenzontle400.
In that sense, he added that Ovidio Guzmán could feed the narrative that maintains that May Zambada has always been the leader of the Sinaloa cartel, as the Chapo Guzmán said during his time during his 2019 judgment. This is what would directly affect the 77 -year -old drug trafficker, due to the possible death penalty he faces in the US.

“The importance of May Zambada be indicated as the only and true head of the Sinaloa Cartel is that in this way the American government would have the legal possibility of claiming a death sentence Against ‘El Mayo’, ”said journalist Lemus.
While they have not yet been announced under what terms Ovid Guzmán would reach this guilt agreement, the truth is that a similar situation could occur in the case of Joaquín Guzmán Lópezthe other son of the Chapo faced by US justice.
It is worth mentioning that there is also the possibility that May Zambada, in turn, reaches a guilt agreement with the US authorities in the case of a court of New York.
