Jerusalem, May 1 (EFE) .- Seventeen firefighters were injured, two of them transferred to hospitals, during the tasks of extinction of the fires that broke out on Wednesday in mountains near Jerusalem, which this Thursday remains uncontrolled, although the police have announced that the cut roads have reopened.
In total, 155 Fire teams continue to work on turning off the flames, this emergency service reported in the local press, with airplanes that participate in the work from the sunrise.
“At this time, we have not yet managed to control the fires,” says the statement released Thursday.
Israeli police reported that all roads cut by fires were reopened to traffic.
Thousands of people from several locations were evacuated following the macroindencio, with several spotlights, which broke out in the mountains located west of Jerusalem, and the highway that joins this city with Tel Aviv was cut to traffic, with dozens of cars trapped in it and its drivers walking along the road to move away from the flames.
Israel requested international help to extinguish fires and five countries – Spain, France, Romania, Croatia, Italy and Ukraine – will send planes for it.
