Norris turned to the McLaren simulator to straighten his struggle for the title

Lando Norris hopes to revive his fight for the title of Formula 1 in 2025 after immersing himself in the McLaren simulator to overcome the errors of recent weeks.

Norris won the opening race of 2025 in Melbourne, but in general the runner -up of last season has had problems adapting to the new McLaren car, which has undergone substantial changes compared to 2024 to stay at the forefront.

His teammate, Oscar Piastri, on the other hand, has moved in the other direction, finding more consistency to transform himself into a true title candidate, having won three of the first five major awards.

With his second consecutive victory of the season in Saudi Arabia, the Australian out of 10 points to Norris in the general classification.

But Norris dismissed the suggestions that the solid state of piastri form is something to worry about, since he trusts to return to parity soon.

“No, it doesn’t worry me at all. He’s doing a good job, and he deserves it,” Norris said before the Miami Grand Prix this weekend.

“I don’t believe so much in the impulse, it’s just my opinion. But I am doing what I can. It is clear that I have made some mistakes and that I am not at the level I need. But I think I will be at that level, so there is no reason to worry.”

“It’s the sixth round of 24. I’m not going to say that forever. I know I have to put on the batteries and I need to accelerate a little. But the speed is there, the rhythm is there.”

“The career rhythm is definitely there. It is just one thing that I have to put in order. And it is difficult. But I trust to get it.”

What Norris is doing to return to the top

McLaren has assumed its part of responsibility when it comes to ensuring that Norris returns to find the key with the MCL39, which seems that it will require both technical adjustments by the equipment and adjustments in the driving style by the British to overcome it.

Norris states that he has dedicated much of his time in the team’s simulator to file his weak points.

“They have been a couple of productive weeks,” explains the British. “That does not mean that many things have changed for this weekend.”

“It is not that things will work magically as I would like, but there is much more understanding of what could have affected things, and what maybe not.”

“Most of my work in the simulator was based on that and try to understand some of these things, which is good.”

“But then it’s about understanding them more, knowing what measures you can take to start changing things in the car and what you want to put resources.”

Instead of trusting McLaren updates, which will probably arrive when the F1 season arrives in Europe in the coming weeks, Norris says that he must find most of the solutions by itself.

“Without a doubt I think (the improvements) will help,” he said. “But I don’t want to depend only on that. There are also things that I am trying to work separately, and I hope that is a better solution to wait for the pieces to arrive.”
