The EPS Sanitas announced that, as of Thursday, May 1, its affiliates to the contributory regime in the municipalities of Garzón and Pitalito, in the department of Huila, They will begin to receive medical care in a new network of services enabled to guarantee a better quality in primary care.
This decision is made within the framework of the administrative forced intervention process that advances the National Superintendence of Health since April 2024, in order to protect user rights and correct deficiencies in the provision of services.
In the case of Pitalito, the users who were previously attended in SIES Health will now be transferred to the IPS Vital Health of Huila Sas, where they can access general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine and family medicine services. Vaccination services, minor procedures and activities focused on health promotion and maintenance will also be provided.
For its part, In the municipality of Garzón, the attention will be transferred to the ESE Maria Auxiliadora, which will have a similar offer of services, including general medicine, basic specialties, vaccination and minor procedures, in addition to health promotion programs. The intervention continues to EPS Sanitas
It should be remembered that the National Superintendence of Health decided to extend for another year the intervention measure to EPS Sanitas, due to the persistent breaches in financial aspects and in the proper provision of the service to the affiliates. The entity said that, although some improvements have been implemented, structural problems still require close surveillance.
Sanitas, which currently has more than 5.8 million affiliates in Colombia, was intervened for presenting a high volume of user complaints, significant debts with service providers and deficiencies in compliance with the legal requirements to operate as a health promoting entity.
In the municipalities of Garzón and Pitalito, users will continue to have access to the complementary network for specialized services, hospitalization and emergency. In Pitalito, these attention will be provided at the San Antonio Departmental Hospital, and in Garzón, at the San Vicente de Paúl Departmental Hospital.
