The Holy Spirit is the silent artist of the world.
Those of us who want to live in his presence cannot ignore his work. We have to contemplate what the Holy Spirit sows in our family, in our neighborhood, in the world, everywhere, even in those who have no faith. What do we contribute with our pessimism? We better contribute positive ideas and actions, knowing that nothing is useless. But if we are permanently looking and highlighting the negative, there comes a time when our eyes are closed and we are unable to value the good things that God does.
The Holy Spirit also invites us to discover the signs of hope around us. Not everything is rotten, because the Holy Spirit always acts and everywhere. Even despite the rejection of men, he always manages to cause something good where everything seems lost.
A person full of the spirit helps others discover and encourage signs of hope. In fact, that is what John Paul II did in his letter about the third millennium:
-"It is necessary that the signs of hope be estimated and deepened ... despite the shadows that frequently hide them into our eyes" (TMA 46).
Hopefully each of us can recognize what the Holy Spirit has sown in his friends, in his neighbors, in his workplace, in his community; and be able to encourage those signs of hope with words of breath and stimulus.
We can do much good if we are able to discover and stimulate the good things around us. Nobody has asked us to spend our lives looking at the shadows, but that we go out of trouble to feed the light.
