The young Chinese pianist Zhiquan Wang has been imposed on the final of the 66 Piano International Contest Jaén awardorganized by the Provincial Council, thanks to its interpretation of the piano and orchestra concert number 3 in the major opus 26 of Prokoviev, during the final of this contest, which This Saturday was held at the Infanta Leonor Theater in the capital of Jiennense.
The performance of this interpreter has been, in the opinion of the jury presided over another year by Barcelona pianist Albert Athenalle, the best of those made by the three young musicians who have played this final, in which they have been accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga, directed this year again by Salvador Vázquez.
With this award, Zhiquan Wang becomes China’s fourth musician to register his name in El Palmarés Of this contest, thus happening to the Korean interpreter Joyeon Ka, who won last year. This pianist, one of the youngest to win the highest award in the long history of this musical contest, since he was born in 2009, adds this recognition to others that he already had to his credit, such as the first awards in competitions such as Orbetello, “Slobozhanska Fantasy”, Melbourne, Shanghai or “Princess Garyani Vadhana”, among others. In addition, in 2024, with only fourteen, he was the youngest pianist to achieve the first prize at the Dubai International.
The second best valued by the jury has been offered by the Italian Elia Cecinowho has touched the piano and orchestra concert number 1 in Si Bemol Minor Opus 23, from Tchaikovsky, an action for which he has obtained the second prize of this contest, endowed with 12,000 euros contributed by the UNED of Jaén. The third prize, valued at 10,000 euros and sponsored by the Jaén Unicaja Foundation, has fallen to the Ucraniano Roman Lopatynkyiwhich has interpreted the piano and orchestra concert number 1 in re minor opus 15, of Brahms.
Chinese Zhiquan Wang, in addition to obtaining the highest award from the Jaén de Piano Award, has also won the award dedicated to camera music and endowed with 8,000 euros contributed by the International University of La Rioja; with the award for the best romantic music interpreter, which has been delivered for the first time and is voted by the UJA; And with the “Rosa Sabater” award, which is awarded to the best Spanish music performer and that has an endowment of 6,000 euros suffered by the City Council of the capital of Jiennense, and a concert organized and sponsored by the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the country.
The first vice president of the Diputación and deputy of Institutional Relations, Juan Latorre, has been in charge of delivering the first prize to the winner of this contest, which is endowed with 20.000 euros Provided by the Provincial Administration, in addition to a gold and diploma medal, the recording and editing of an album with the prestigious Naxos label and a five concert tour.

This recognition has an economic endowment of 6,000 euros.
The granting of these awards, which total 70,000 euros in prizes, has put the culmination to the successful 66¬ edition of this pyanistic contest organized by the Provincial Council, which has been held in the capital of Jiennense from April 24 to May 3, 2025 with a total of 49 participants from 15 countries and four continents.
