Mexico-Eue relationship, commitment to growth

During the table “The European Union: Global Actor and Strategic Partner of Mexico”, held on the occasion of May 9, when Europe is celebrated, he recalled that our country is one of its first commercial partners in Latin America, and that entity is one of the main investors in the Mexican nation.

Accompanied by the ambassadors in Mexico from the EU, Francisco André; Romania, Marius Gabriel Lazurca; Czech Republic, Tomáš Hart; and Italy, Alessandro Modiano; And students gathered in the “Narciso Bassols” Auditorium, the economist presented:

The European Union and Mexico share the vision of the principles of multilateralism, sustainable development, democracy and human rights. In addition, we are joined by an economic and cultural relationship for a long time, of relevance, which has been consolidated over the years and represents a commitment determined by shared growth.

When speaking, the ambassador Francisco André recalled: with 27 countries and 450 million people, we are a political-economic bloc of consumers, but also of students, teachers and teachers, as well as universities, who seeks to strengthen their ties with the world, which changes rapidly, fragmented every day, where international cooperation is increasingly lacking.

He stressed that it is a reliable, predictable and committed partner, who can share prosperity to open more economies from a trade or with an action that is global, based on rules, not on threats.

Meanwhile, Marius Gabriel Lazurca said that our country is one of the 10 considered a strategic partner by the EU. More than a commercial agreement is global, which means that trade issues, diplomacy, environmental protection, climatic and green transition are worked, and feel the foundations for a political dialogue that is constructive to nations.

He acknowledged: That entity is a political construction, a social project, but also an interesting economic model; It is the second global power with a gross domestic product of 16 billion euros.

Its success is seen in the high quality of life of numerous homelands of the continent, since it is based on European humanism, that is, economic growth has as main elements, but also synchronization between this, inclusion and sustainability.

According to Tomáš Hart, it is a unique plan by not being a country or a federation, but an interstate project where in the last 30 or 35 years nations such as yours, Romania and Poland, among others, benefited considerably in economic, education, health, and so on.

We suffered in the second half of the twentieth century, but the investment came, the competition of ideas; All this that the free world considers something automatic, to countries like mine had to adapt.

According to Alessandro Modiano, for young university students, born in a planet where the European Union is a conglomerate of nations too integrated, it may seem incredible that these were made a devastating war decades ago with millions of dead people, a level of incomprehension and reciprocal hate so deep that it seemed impossible to achieve a process of incorporation.

Those who left devastated found the strength for a common project, where they reflected: “If we continue to make wars we will pay an increasingly bigger price.” Establishing common objectives was the beginning of an extremely ambitious moment, he said.

Modiano stressed: we are at a time of great international tension that has a first moment in economic barriers, which is why it is important that the EU and Mexico join more, because we share the same values, and no one of us wants to pay a price similar to that of World War II.

The diplomats agreed that we live in an interrelated orb, where a country, even if it is the most powerful of all, cannot only solve problems such as climate change.
