José Asunción Murguía Santiago, mayor of Teuchitlán, was arrested by federal authorities due to his involvement in the activities carried out by the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel (CJNG) In the Izaguirre Rancho.
Security Cabinet Sources confirmed that the arrest was made on Saturday afternoon by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
Murguía Santiago who militates in the Citizen Movement party, was transferred to Mexico City based on an arrest warrant fought against him, the authorities consulted indicated.
On April 30, the head of the FGR, Alejandro Gertz Manero said at a press conference that the Izaguirre ranch, located in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, was used as a recruitment center, training and operation of the operation of the CJNG.
The official said that since 2021 the Jalisco authorities were aware of what was happening at the Izaguirre Rancho, however they did nothing, despite the fact that in September 2024 the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office took the property under its control and then neglecting the surveillance, so in March this year when a group of searching mothers entered the property located hundreds would have been recruited by CJNG and forced to be part of groups of hitmen or that were allegedly executed by the criminal group.
On the other hand, last March, the head of the Ministry of Citizen Security and Protection, Omar García Harfuch, said during the morning conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum that under deception of false jobs in security with salaries of 4 to 12 thousand pesos a week, recruited people to form them as part of the criminal organization, said the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) Harfuch.
That the testimony of José Gregorio Lastra Armida, aka THE LASTRA o Commander Lastra – recorded last week in Cuajimalpa and who was the leader of this recruiter team – the authorities knew that those who opposed training at that ranch or tried to escape were beaten, tortured and killed.
