The Yesca, Nay. President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo signed on Thursday the decree that restores a total of 5,956 hectares to the Wixárica community of San Sebastián Teponahuaxtlán and its annex, Tuxpan, as part of the Wixárica people justice plan.
The act was held in the remote mountain community of Mesa de Huanacaxtle, municipality of La Yesca, Nayarit, where members of the indigenous peoples of Durango, Jalisco, Zacatecas and Nayarit attended.
The president was received by a commission of women and men in the town, who made a protection ritual, guided by the worldview of the ancestors; In addition, he was delivered to the cane of command and a wixárica chair.
This land restitution was a yearning for the Wixaric peoples for which it fought for many years and today consolidated, since with this, almost 57 percent of all the hectares that have been claimed are obtained.
At the time of the firm, those present made a strong applause of thanks and in their speech, Sheinbaum Pardo said: “How do we give justice, that social justice that gradually snatched over this neoliberal period?, In the case of the original peoples President Andrés Manuel López Obrador designed the justice plans, which have a characteristic: return to the peoples their lands.”
“That is why today, it is the first time I come with you, I come with something in our hand and in our heart we return 5 thousand hectares to the people. For many periods, because this comes from the colony, from the Spanish invasion and after many governments that did not recognize the importance of the peoples. But we will also give continuity to what you request to recognize all the sacred places,” he said.
Traditional governors present thanked the president of Mexico for the willingness to work next to the country’s roots, to open a firm and fixed space for dialogue and today, advance in these old claims.
In a hot and warm environment for the reception of the native peoples, Sheinbaum detailed the social programs that the federal government has for the benefit of Mexicans and that no longer depend in themselves on the president who is in turn, because they are now institutional.
The governor of the state of Nayarit, the morenista Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, thanked the provision in land restitution and added, that Nayarit continues to transform thanks to the president of Mexico.
