According to the Tax Administration Service (SAT), on May 30 is the last day for companies to do the distribution of profits corresponding to the fiscal year of 2024.
However, hundreds of pensioners wonder if they should also receive the participation of workers in profits (PTU), so this time in Village We explain if people who have already retired from working life are obliged to receive profits.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the PTUs are the constitutional right that the employees of the formal sector have to receive a part of the profits obtained by the company in which they work or its employer for the productive activity or the services offered in the market.
According to this government agency, workers who provide their services to a company should be paid the utility no later than May 30. However, in case of working for a pattern, they must receive the PTU no later than June 29.
-The answer is no, since according to the Federal Labor Law, this benefit is only granted to workers who remain active. Therefore, retirees from both the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and those of the State Workers’ Institute and Social Services Institute (ISSSTE) are not obliged to receive this bonus.
The only benefit that these right -holders receive is the payment of the bonus, which is provided at the end of the year.
The Federal Attorney for the Defense of Labor (Profedet) states that employees who do not receive this benefit on the date indicated, or that they have only received a part of the PTU, will have a period of one year counting from the day following the limit date, to claim the payment of this benefit.
Likewise, Profedet provides its services so that employees can receive free legal guidance and assistance, in order to make the utilities. This support can be received by marking the following numbers: 01 800 71 72 942 and 01 800 91 17 877. Likewise, the affected can receive assistance in any of its 48 offices distributed throughout the country.
