Three films released in which dystopias passed through their moment of glory and will be broadcast tonight in open
When the rights of the adolescent science fiction adventure saga of Veronica Roth, Divergentwere acquired by Summit Entertainment for adaptation to the cinema, comparisons with The hunger gamesthe dyzanne collins dystopian novel series that had already triumphed in their own adaptation, were so expected as inevitable.
Roth’s work was also a ‘bestseller’ destined for the public ‘Young Adult’ -literature for young adults -belonged to the genre of dystopian science fiction and its history included confrontations between factions and a love story among its protagonists.
The first film of the saga Divergentpremiered in 2014 under the baton of Neil Burger, coinciding with the year in which The hunger games premiered his penultimate movie, Hunger games: Sinses – Part 2but the story starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ashley Judd did not get the same success.
Even so, the plan to adapt the full saga continued and in 2015 and 2016 two sequelae were released: The Divergent Series: Insurgent y The Divergent series: loyal. The three films are broadcast today on the TDT Be Mad channel from 20:22 hours Starting with Divergent. At 10:39 pm will begin insurgent and 00:38 hours will begin Leal.
Between three films they raised 765 million dollars, staying very far from other successes of the genre and, at the criticism level, they did not work too well either. After the abandonment of director Robert Schwentke, who had directed the two sequelae, with his replacement, Lee Toland Krieger, there was a change of radical plans: instead of being a film, a television series would be made that ended the story. The first film places us in a futuristic and isolated Chicago of the outside world in which people are divided into five different groups according to their characteristics: truth, self -denial, daring, cordiality and erudition. When young residents turn 16, they have the unique opportunity to change the faction. Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) grew in the self -denial faction, but was never completely satisfied with her. However, it receives an unusual result in its proof of aptitude: its character features make it suitable for three factions, which makes it a “divergent”, a little numerous type of people who are considered dangerous for social peace and therefore are persecuted under the command of the unscrupulous Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet). From now on, Beatrice must hide his true identity and choose a faction.
