Lady Gaga went crazy to her fans this Saturday in Rio de Janeiro with her ‘Gothic Opera’, a show marked by theatricality and exuberance that hypnotized 2.1 million attendees who gathered at the Copacabana beach, according to the City Hall.
The free concert, the most massive in the artist’s career, consecrated her triumphal return to Brazil after thirteen years of absence in this South American country.
After the acclaimed recent performances in Coachella and Mexico, the winner of 14 Grammy Awards offered in Rio a show loaded with the ‘chaotic’ energy of ‘Mayhem’, her most recent album and with which she tells the fight with her alter egos until her rebirth.
Dressed in a red suit, on a Victorian structure and in the middle of a gigantic stage of 1,260 square meters that evoked a Greek theater, the pop superstar inaugurated the show playing ‘Bloody Mary’.

The operatic atmosphere with which the presentation began quickly entered the pop pace with ‘Abradacabra’. There, as if by magic, dancers appeared until that moment hidden under the artist’s skirt to give life to energetic choreographies.
But the moment he led to his fans was shortly after interpreting ‘Want’, when he made a parenthesis to thank the attendees. From a high box extended the Brazilian flag and read a message that was translated into simultaneous in which he said he felt “honest”, “fortunate” and “proud” of acting again in the country.
“Thank you for waiting for me for more than ten years,” said nostalgic. “I thank you for receiving me with open arms” and “Make History with me,” he added.
The greatest emotion, however, was lived towards the end of the concert when Gaga interpreted the most anticipated successes, such as the intimate ‘Shalow’ to the piano -Gayer of the Oscar for Best Original Song- or “Bad Romance”.
With the concert at Copacabana Lady Gaga beach he paid a debt that had pending with Brazil for 13 years, when he visited the country with the world tour ‘The Born This Way Ball’.
In 2017 he wanted to return to ‘Cidade Maravilhosa’, but health reasons forced him to cancel his presentation in Rock in Rio, which was part of the main figures of the festival.
After the confirmation of his return to Brazil, last February, the response of his fans was overwhelming. Among the public, there were attendees who traveled from the bowels of the Amazon jungle through rivers, land and air to see the diva; Others, from Porto Alegre, in the south, or from Fortaleza, in the Northeast aggregate, underwent days of crossings on bus.
From Wednesday afternoon there were already hundreds of fans around the hotel where Lady Gaga is staying, dressed in costumes that marked history with the artist and waiting for a greeting from her star, which only showed in the essay prior to the concert.

The attendance at the event, which was 2.1 million viewers, a figure much higher than 1.6 million expected people as happened in Madonna’s concert last year in the iconic beach will leave the city an economic impact of more than 600 million reais (94 million euros), according to official estimates.
