The Israeli minister of Defense, Israel Katz, announced this Saturday (12.04.2025) that the Army plans to expand its current offensive in much of the Gaza Strip and urged the inhabitants to evacuate the combat areas of the Palestinian territory.
“Soon the Operations of the FDI (Army of Israel) will intensify and expand to other areas in most of Gaza, and must evacuate the combat areas,” he declared in a statement addressed to the Gazaties.
In the document, the minister also announced that the Israeli troops concluded the taking of a corridor in the southern part of the territory.
“The army completed the take -out of the Morag axis, which crosses Gaza between (the southern areas of) Rafah and Jan Yunis, and incorporated the entire area between Morag and the Philadelphia corridor (border with Egypt) to the Israeli security zone,” Katz said.
This area, located between the Filadelphia corridor to the south and the Morag axis to the north, housed more than 200,000 Palestinians before the conflict, reduced to a couple of hundreds after the widespread destruction caused by the Israeli army.
Katz added that the army is expelling the population of the city of Beit Hanoun and other neighborhoods from the North in order to “occupy” the area and expand the military area of the Netzarim corridor, which crosses the center of Gaza.
