
Between 2024 and what goes from 2025, at least 15 political prisoners have died in custody of the Venezuelan state in a context marked by post -election repression, institutional abandonment and impunity, according to the NGO Criminal Forum.
The last deceased was Lindomar Jesús Amarowho allegedly died for suicide as he remained detained in the Tocorón prison.
Martha Tineo Rodríguez, specialized lawyer in Human Rights and General Coordinator of the NGO justice, Meeting and Forgivenessanalyzed this theme in the NTN24 afternoon program.
“When a person dies being In Custody of the State there is a responsibility of the State”He said
“Our organization, today, maintains a record of at least 24 people who died in state custody”He added.
In that sense, he pointed out that “there is a direct responsibility of the State regarding these deaths.”
“What corresponds is that the country’s justice system authorities begin investigations on these deaths“, held.
On the case of Lindomar Jesús, Tineo said that “his mother runs out of his child, without a response, without justice, without truth and without access to any repair.”
“This translates into more impunity,” he added.
