Israel is closer than ever of a civil war, said Olmert in an article published in the Haaretz newspaper.
The politician denounced “the assault of a gang of thug to the Supreme Court of Israel that was promoted, backed and, to a large extent, organized” by Netanyahu.
Olmert thus referred to the controversial judicial reform promoted by the right -wing alliance, very criticized by broad sectors of the country.
He affirmed that such strategy is the following phase of a process designed to undermine the very existence of national institutions.
The war against these institutions, now labeled as the ‘Deep State’ is a vital stage in the well -planned attempt of Netanyahu to break Israel, he estimated.
Also the former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak criticized this week the situation by estimating that the nation is on the edge of the abyss and faces a direct threat to his safety.
Barak claimed the end of the war in the Gaza Strip as a single way to recover Israeli prisoners in the hands of the Palestinian militias.
The coalition in power faces a wave of protests against its judicial reform and in support of the end of the conflict, amid increasing doubts about the progress of the economy and the cuts in the budget.
