The president of China, Xi Jinping, will make a state visit to Russia from May 7 to 10 with the aim of participating in the celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, as announced by a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry from Pekín.
During his visit, the Chinese president will hold a strategic dialogue with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. This meeting will address bilateral relations in the current context and will discuss a series of important international and regional issues. The spokesman stressed that these dialogues will strengthen mutual political trust and enrich cooperation in various areas, generating benefits for both nations.
Likewise, the spokesman recalled that this year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s Resistance War against Japanese aggression, as well as the Great Patriotic War and the Antifascist world War. Both countries, which played a crucial role in these conflicts, made significant sacrifices to ensure victory and preserve their nations.
Within the framework of the celebrations, Xi and Putin have agreed to highlight the joint history, honoring those who sacrificed their lives and promoting an adequate vision of World War II. The commitment of both presidents includes defending the principles and results of victory, as well as guaranteeing international justice.
The spokesman also mentioned that, at this historical situation, XI’s participation in commemorations in Moscow will be a reflection of mutual support between China and Russia for their respective celebrations of these historical milestones.
Additionally, it was recalled that this year the 80th anniversary of the UN Foundation is celebrated, highlighting the special responsibility that China and Russia have as founding members to maintain the international system focused on the organization.
The spokesman concluded that both countries will strengthen their coordination in multilateral forums such as the UN, OCS and BRICS, rejecting unilateralism and promoting a multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.
President Putin, in a recent documentary, said that stable relationships between Russia and China are fundamental for world stability in times of growing global tumult. His vision reflects the importance of these strategic ties in the current international panorama.
