The European Commission has shown its concern for the decision of the Israel Security Cabinet to intensify military operations in the Gaza Strip and urged the Government of Bejamin Netanyahu to “contain yourself.”
All cabinet members have supported the expansion of armed activities, under the premise of “conquering Gaza and retaining the territories.” The plan presented by the head of the Defense Forces (FDI), Eyal Zamir, raises the displacement of the Gazatí population towards the south and measures to prevent Hamas from controlling the aid.
“The EU is concerned about the extension of these operations in Gaza, which will cause more victims and additional sufferings for the Palestinian population,” the Foreign Community spokesman said at a press conference, Anouni Anoun, who added that the block “urges Israel to contain itself.”
The spokesman has also reiterated that “negotiation is the only method, the only way for the return of hostages and the cessation of all hostilities”, while asking “lifting the blockade” and guaranteeing “immediate access” to the distribution of humanitarian aid, in addition to the restoration of electricity and essential services.
“Palestinians and Israelis have suffered greatly during the last year. It is time to end violence and suffering,” said the Anouni.
