Washington, May 5 (EFE) .- US President Donald Trump said he had a “very productive” conversation on Monday with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he invited him to visit the United States and expressed his desire to work together to end the war in Ukraine.
The Republican leader said on his platform, Truth Social, who talked about “various issues, such as war with Russia/Ukraine, Syria, Gaza and others”, and that in that conversation the Turkish president also invited him to go to his country.
“During my four years as president, my relationship with President Erdogan was excellent. We collaborated closely in numerous issues, including the fact that it helped pastor Andrew Brunson, who was imprisoned, returned to the United States immediately after my request,” he said in reference to his first mandate (2017-2021).
Trump added his desire to work together with Erdogan “to end the ridiculous, but mortal, war between Russia and Ukraine, now!”
This week the president will receive in the White House the Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, to start transcendental negotiations on tariffs and the future bilateral relationship between the two countries. EFE
