Given the persistence of insecurity on the roads, the Colombian Association of Truckers sent a letter to President Gustavo Petro in which he has six requests. However, the petition that stands out is the elimination of the collection of the Road Safety Fund, because, according to them, there is no evidence of real and verifiable results about the good use of resources.
Now, this letter was sent to the Head of State after the murder of two drivers, Willam Benavides and Eduar Benavides.
What are the six requests of the Truckers guild to President Gustavo Petro?
1. The immediate elimination of the collection to the Fosevi because there are no results, there are no real verifiable mechanisms of good use to resources, there is no participation to comment, nor can be able to monitor results or protection strategies for transporters.
2. The opening of an official hearing with the President, in which they seek to dialogue about the safety guarantees for the guild and the supports that exist for the victims, widows and orphans.
-3. Set striking rewards for those who lead to the capture effective prosecution of transporters’ murderers and dismantling of looters, devaluors and assailants bands
4. Immediate and deep research on the destination of Fosevi’s resources and project VIIT’s
5. A formal written response to the letter sent by the truckers to the president, with the specific commitments of the government against the situation.
6. The design of a comprehensive support plan for the families of the murdered drivers, especially widows and orphans, as a minimum measure of justice and repair.
