The PDI executed a series of raids in Quilicura after the Murder of the drug trafficker Carlos “Guatón Mutema” Acevedooccurred on April 27. The operations allowed to stop five people –Four Venezuelans and a Colombian-, two of them would be directly linked to homicide and three by drug trafficking and illegal arms possession. All sent to preventive prison this Friday.
The sub -prefect Juan ZúñigaHead of the Central North Homicide Brigade, explained that the case was addressed with “scientific-technical work, evidence and camera analysis.” These tests allowed to rebuild the exhaust route of the vehicle used by the attackers.
Through video surveillance, the car was identified and its occupants. “Yesterday – May 01, we stopped one of them and today, at dawn, to the second. During the raids, we arrested three more people,” said Zúñiga. In the irruptions, A grenade, cocaine and a firearm was found.
Active grenade and drugs: the evidence seized in the raids
Among the seizure stand out 450 grams of cocaine hydrochloride; a 9 mm pistol and a grenade ready to use. “One of the detainees carried the Granada at the time of its arrest,” said the Sub -prefect. The vehicle linked to crime was also recovered.
Los Five detainees resided irregularly in Chile and lacked police records. “None had previous records, but their participation links them to organized networks,” Zúñiga said.
On the specific roles in the homicide, the police chief was emphatic in saying that “the investigative folder is still open. We have conviction of the participation of the first two detainees, but we do not rule out more involved.” The Court authorized the arrests after a formal application of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The material author of the shots remains a fugitive. “The process just begins. We work with criminal intelligence to locate it”Zúñiga admitted. The Prosecutor’s Office maintains a period of 120 days to close the investigation.
Research for the murder of “Guatón Mutema”
The investigation for the homicide of the “Mutema Guatón” combined ballistic expert reports, communications tracking and digital reconstruction of the scene. “The analysis confirmed that the accused planned the escape minutes after the crime,” said the sub -prefect.
Los raids were carried out in three homes in Villa Pucará. In one of them, Activa Granada forced to strengthen security protocols. “These findings show the level of danger of the group,” Zúñiga added.
After the formalization, led by the Eco Metropolitana Prosecutor, the five detainees were in pretrial detention.
