Ukraine criticizes Fico for saying that Zelenski intimidates leaders who go to Moscow

Prague, May 6 (EFE) .- Ukraine has criticized the Slovak Prime Minister, populist Robert Fico, for having accused President Volodimir Zelenski, to try to intimidate the leaders who plan to attend the festivities of May 9 in Moscow, the newspaper Pravda reports on Tuesday.

In a statement released on social networks, the Ukraine Embassy in Prague expressed his “regret” for the words pronounced by Fico Sunday, , referring to Zelenski had admitted that he could not guarantee the security of those Moscow celebrations, he said that the Ukrainian president “should not threaten other countries.”

Fico, considered one of the prorruse European leaders, referred to the eventuality of a possible attack on Moscow by kyiv with long -range ballistic drones or missiles.

The so -called ‘ ’, which commemorates the Soviet triumph over Nazi Germany in 1945, is celebrated in style every May 9 in Russia, with a great parade in Moscow.

A twenties of heads of and , including the highest Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, in addition to the of the Slovak Executive, have confirmed their assistance to the celebration next , when 80 years of that victory are completed, also traditionally remembered in Ukraine.

FICO has the call of the high representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, so that European leaders boycott the celebration in Moscow due to Russian aggression against Ukraine.

In its statement, the Ukrainian embassy implies that Fico brought Zelenski’s statements about the perhaps uncertain security of the Russian celebration, accusing of wanting to intimidate the leaders who have accepted the invitation of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, to the act.

“Instead of another accusation” against the president of Ukraine, “the Embassy recommends that our Slovak partners to study, review and analyze the statements of the Ukrainian leader with greater care,” says the diplomatic note.

Those statements (from Zelenski), he adds, “refer so to that the Ukrainian part does not rule out provocations of the Russian Federation on May 9 or the guilt of security violations to Ukraine, and that, in this sense, it cannot guarantee its safety,” he adds.

Zelenski said last weekend that his position “is very simple for all (leaders of) countries that have traveled or are traveling to May 9”, specifically, that Ukraine cannot be responsible “for what happens in the Russian Federation.”

“They provide security and, therefore, we will not give them any guarantee, because we do not know what Russia will do these days,” Zelenski said in relation to Russian attacks against Ukraine.

The embassy recalled that Zelenski unconditionally accepted, on March 11, a high total , “while Russia constantly rejects this option, raises new demands, manipulates, intensifies terror and now proposes a short three -day truce, which is not a serious path towards peace.” EFE
