The Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil accepted on Tuesday inanime the complaint against seven accused of operating the fake news machinery in the coup attempt after the 2022 elections.

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil began on Tuesday the analysis of the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against seven new new accused of integrating a coup plot against President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and determined to initiate a process against them.

They are also accused of pressing members of the Armed Forces to join the plan.
It is suspected that the group used the structure of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) and the Planalto Palace to generate social instability and intimidate those who opposed the plan. The defendants face charges for five crimes: armed criminal organization; attempt of violent abolition of the democratic state of law; coup d’etat; Damage qualified by violence and serious threat; and impairment of protected heritage.
El Analisis will be held by La Primera Class del Supreme, integrated by Los Ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Carmen Lúcia, Cristiano Zanin, Flávio Dino y Luiz Fux. If most of the ministers accept the complaint, the defendants will become inmates and will face a criminal action in the STF also, the magistrates have already accepted the complaints against two other nuclei of the coup plot.
The first core is composed of the alleged intellectual authors of the Plan, including former president Jair Bolsonaro. Core 2 is accused of providing legal and intellectual advice for the coup attempt.
