Before the epidemiological alert decreed in the neighboring Republic of Colombia, from the Táchira Health Corporation (Corposalud) the yellow fever vaccination process began.
This was noted by Reggie Barrera, regional epidemiologist, who warned about the need to protect against yellow fever, complying with vaccination and avoiding access to areas where, it is known, there is a transmission.
Barrera explained that Venezuela has been maintained with antiamarilic vaccination for decades, with immunization in urban, peri -urban and rural areas, where the virus can be introduced and the transmitter vector exists.
The health team of the Andean entity, especially in the border municipalities, remains active in the face of the possible introduction of the disease in the country.
Called to the population
From Corposalud, the population is called to carry the vaccination card, the only probative document of having vaccinated and protected against yellow fever.
“Those who do not possess it, we invite you to visit the more than 300 vaccination posts to apply it again; because there are no risks to revacunation,” said Barrera.
This vaccine applies routinely to the year of age, a dose is sufficient to guarantee immunity. It protects throughout life.
