Given this, Marcelo de la Torre, president of Distrigas, provided details about the importance of the provincial plan, and to be able to arrive with public services to each Santa Cruz.
“first I want to wish all workers a happy day,” he began pointing out of the tower, before referring to the plan promoted by the provincial government. “Actually, we have a very ambitious work plan proposed by the governor. We will have works in all the localities where it is districts.” Although, not all the interventions in this first announcement were detailed, the president assured that he is working intensely on the necessary documentation, for a second stage that will cover all the jurisdictions with the presence of the distributor.
In this first phase, the investment by the company will amount to approximately 6,000 and 7,000 million pesos. The head of the company specified the initial locations and works: “In Río Gallegos we have four neighborhoods, plus a reinforcement, which will be for the sector that is parallel to the highway. Then we have works on November 28, in El Calafate, three lakes, Lake Posadas and the old ones.”
Asked about the impact of these works, De la Torre estimated a direct benefit for a significant number of neighbors. “There are almost 5,000 new neighbors and with that we would cover the totality of what are the urban centers, of the different locations.” He explained that, with this stage, the demand will be covered in urban areas, leaving for a later instance those projects in areas of farms or homes far away from urban centers.
Finally, the president of Distrigas referred to the planning for future stages, mentioning locations such as Caleta Olivia, Pico Truncado, Las Heras, Turbio River, and specific areas in Río Gallegos. However, he pointed out that the concretion of these works is subject to the presentation of the technical documentation required, by the regulatory entity. “For now, in the locations these that I mentioned there are areas that do not comply with all the documentation, for example, they are not measured. We are working on that, we want to present all the documentation, that also depends on each municipality. But we are helping them to be able to specify, so we can launch the work,” concluded De la Torre, highlighting the collaboration with the municipalities, to ensure the expansion of the gas service to more Santa Cruz.
