Ball literature is a book written by Roberto Santoro, a journalist and writer missing during the last military dictatorship. It is an emblematic, initiatory work that links sports journalism beyond the football or shows itself. They are days of the Book Fair in Buenos Aires and several recent publications, of sports journalists, can be found in various publishers.
Some works, such as Menotti, the first, history of the co -ease technicianby Ezequiel Fernández Moores, will have its baptism next Sunday, May 4 at stand 1400, Yellow Pavilion, from 8 pm and organized by Penguin Random house. The prestigious colleague will be accompanied by Andrés Burgo and Alejandro Wall, with whom the radio program was also shared by 10 years, which is broadcast every Friday by Radio Ciudad (AM 1110).
Fernandez Moores has an extensive career that began in 1978 and had many interviews with Menotti, the last of almost 5 hours, in a project that also involved the realization of the documentary series Football is History and 1986, the story behind the Cup. In addition, for this book, he made, with the collaboration of Roberto Parrottino and León Lagares, almost 80 interviews.
The work seeks profile to the characters from all its edges, that of the football players first and then coach, that of the left -wing political militant, the type that took advantage of its time to generate new income, that of an intimate dinner admitted that “maybe I was wrong” when I left the squad of 22 players to Diego Armando Maradona of the world Cup 78.
“The question, contrafactic, will be eternal: what would have been said about Maradona’s exclusion if the selection did not win the 78 World Cup? Over time, in the dinners with his friends in Mancino first, Piegari later, Menotti, unusual in him, granted that, seeing what happened later, perhaps he made an error when excluding Diego. ‘ A good team could protect the star in a bad game, but a star, believed the skinny, could not protect a team that did not work.”, Read in one of the paragraphs of the book.
In tune with the football World Cups, the journalist Juan Vasle has just published World and white worldby Editorial Hat Trick, which has its stand at the Book Fair. The history of Colega Vasle is particular. Argentine of Slovenian origin, is a sports journalist but also opera singer and three decades ago living in Ljubljana. It is his fourth book.
The work covers the period 1930-1970 and that is why he calls him in black and white. The World Cup in Mexico, for the first time, was broadcast live to the world and … in colors. Although, as the author claims, in many countries, as Argentina, the new technology had not yet arrived. Of each competition, Vasle rescues known and unknown stories.
Something joins the author Víctor Raffo, author of The British Argentine Sports Originwith which he wrote Menotti’s book. Ezequiel Fernández Moores is, precisely, the prologue of this work that had its first edition in 2004. In this second edition, corrected and improved, with new discoveries, 20 years later, it has the seal of the Dunken publishing house, which also has its place in the La Rural site where the fair takes place.
The book recounts the slow development of sport in this part of South America, from the football matches played in Luján and the foundation of the Areco Cricket Club (both during the stay of the British troops in 1806) until the arrival of Julio Argentino Roca to the Presidency in 1880. It was a slow process because the number of residents were very small, and because in the period addressed, in the period addressed, in the period. Civil wars (1858/61), the War of Paraguay (1864/70), the epidemics of anger and yellow fever (1867/71) and the world economic depression initiated in 1873.
In this context, Raffo deepens the network of “ethnic associations” that recreated life in the “old terroir”, in which the most prominent merchants of the British community emerged as “ethnic leaders” and led these organizations that included sports clubs. It also analyzes the importance of The Standard as the diffuser organ of ideologies that had a lot of impact on the “middle Victorian period”, such as “muscle Christianity” driven from Rugby School by Professor Thomas Arnold.
This Thursday, May 1, the Book Fair had a lot of activity and in the stand of the El Ateneo Editorial were Ariel Senosiain, Adrián Michelena and Nahuel Lanzillotta presenting their respective books. Senosiain’s is Messi Intimate and was released in November last year. The new one is SELECTION DREAM, how the world champions inspire us.
The work is a deep and exciting tour of the lives and struggles of the players of the Argentine soccer team that, under the direction of Lionel Scaloni, managed to conquer the third star in the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
Through inspiring stories of sacrifice, teamwork and humility, the authors tell how each of these players exceeded obstacles to reaching the pinnacle of world football.
