The research on the murder of the Cuban singer El Taiger took a new turn on Wednesday with the publication of a 911 call made by Damián Valdez-Galloso, the main suspect of the artist’s crime.
The audio, revealed by the Prosecutor’s Office, reviews how Valdez-Galloso called the emergency number posing as a citizen who had casually found the vehicle with the victim inside.
The recording, made in Spanish shortly after allegedly abandoned the Mercedes-Benz SUV with José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar (the Taiger) seriously injured near the Jackson Memorial hospital, details the cold description of Valdez-Galloso to the operator.
Call
In the audio it is heard to say to Valdez-Galloso: “I spent gossiping now that I parked, and I saw the car started.” He then said: «He missed me. I didn’t see anyone inside, I peeked my head and there is like a man lying in the car ».
-when the 911 operator asked him if he had tried to make contact or if the person seemed asleep, Valdez-Galloso replied: «I touched him, I did everything and I saw a blood stain there on the floor … inside the car when I looked like this out the window … a man, yes. It is half naked ».
This call is a key piece in the chronology of events that, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, occurred at dawn on October 3. The authorities argue that Valdez-Galloso shot El Taiger in the head in his residence in the city of Hialeah.
Subsequently, as they show surveillance videos, he allegedly dragged the body to the artist’s vehicle, cleaned the scene, erratically drove around the hospital and finally left the car before making the call to 911 from his own phone, trying to divert attention.
According to official records, the Taiger was still alive when the police arrived at the place where the vehicle was. From there he was transferred to the Jackson Memorial Hospital, located at a short distance.
