In a movement that shakes the political board of the government of Javier Milei, Luis Pierrini, a 56 -year -old Mendoza businessman with a solid career in the insurance sector, was appointed as the new secretary of transport of the nation, replacing Franco Mogetta.
The decision, promoted by the presidential advisor Santiago Caputo and supported by the Minister of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, marks a change of course in one of the most sensitive areas of the Executive and consolidates the influence of Caputo in the cabinet.

A trusted man with roots in Mendoza
Born and based in Mendoza, he is an outstanding figure in the private sector, known for his leadership in Triunfo Seguros, an insurance company with national scope that his father, Roberto Pierrini, in 1967.
Since he assumed the presidency and general management in 2004, Pierrini transformed triumph into a benchmark of the sector, with a presence in provinces such as Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, Neuquén and the City of Buenos Aires. The company, which operates under a cooperative model, employs more than 650 people directly and has a network of 3,000 associated producers, in addition to being sponsor of the lionesses, the Argentine Spinning Hockey National Team.
With a forged race in the field of insurance, Pierrini has also left its mark on International organizations. Since 2016, he has been a member of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF), an entity based in Manchester, the United Kingdom, which represents cooperative insurers from all over the world, and occupied a role of authority in the organization. In addition, it is part of Argentine reinsurers and had a brief incursion into the Mendoza Stock Exchange between 2011 and 2012. Outside the business field, Pierrini shows a diverse facet: he is vice president of the Rivadavia Independent Club, team of the First Division of Argentine Football, and a passionate of motoring.
Recently, he ventured into the media by acquiring a shareholding in the newspaper La Capital de Rosario, integrating into a conglomerate of media of the Argentine coast. These activities reflect their versatility and their ability to navigate in different sectors.
An appointment that strengthens Caputo
The designation of Pierrini is not an isolated event, but part of a broader strategy of the Milei government to consolidate power in trust figures and align public policies with a business court vision.
Considered a nearby ally of Luis “Toto” Caputo, Pierini arrives at the Ministry of Transportation at a key moment, marked by a reformulation of the area led by Federico Sturzenegger, Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the state. Among the planned changes is the dissolution of the National Transport Regulation Commission (CNRT) and the possible fusion of organisms linked to aerocomercial transport, measures that reflect the commitment to a reduction in the state apparatus.
The displacement of Franco Mogetta, who had assumed the position in December 2023 thanks to his link with former Cordoba governor Juan Schiaretti, responds to both political tensions and the need to adjust the course of the area.
Mogetta, notified of his departure on Tuesday afternoon, requested time to say goodbye to his team and head one last act, with his effective waiver scheduled for May 6. Although Minister Caputo praised his management, highlighting that “he has done a great job” and will continue in the ranks of Freedom advances, Mogetta’s exit marks a break with the previous scheme, influenced by Schiarettism, and a turn towards a more aligned model with the libertarian precepts.
