Two endowments of the Provincial Consortium of Prevention and Extinction of Fires, Salvados and Civil Protection of the Diputación de Zamora struggled today the fire declared in a regional train car that Valladolid communicates with Puebla de Sanabria (Zamora). The eight passengers traveling in that car were unharmed, as confirmed by sources from the provincial institution.
The driver detected a failure when the train passed through Abejera and led him to Sarracín de Aliste to stop at the station. That was a miracle, since then a fortuitous chain was triggered.
The Firefighters of the land parks of Aliste, San Vitero, with the Nodriza truck, and the northern zone, based on Rionegro del Puente, with logistical support, participated in the operation deployed at the Sarracín de Aliste station.
Two pumps from the Junta de Castilla, personnel of Renfe and Adif, environmental agents and patrols of citizen security and traffic of the Civil Guard also intervened.
Some of the evacuated travelers were transferred by taxi to Puebla de Sanabria and, in other cases, the relatives themselves went to collect them.
The 112 Emergency Center of Castilla y León warned of the incident at 8:33 p.m., and the extinction works were completed at 22.20.
“We must highlight the efficacy and speed of all the troops of the Provincial Firefighters Consortium, in coordination with the rest of the operation,” said the president of the Diputación, Javier Faúndez, who moved to the site of the incident.
