The Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Luis José Montero, said that Peru has signed a treaty to activate the Peruvian presence in the Persian Gulf in his passage through Saudi Arabia.
The Minister of Energy and Mines made an official visit for the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the actions developed by the Government to promote the investment potential offered by Peru in the context of the global energy transition, mining and hydrocarbons.
The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) indicated that there has been a series of meetings in the Ministry of Industries and Mineral Resources, in the Ministry of Energy, in the Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Investments.
“Likewise, we met with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Saudi Arabia and with the Council of countries of the Persian Gulf, made up of six nations, with which we have signed a memorandum that will take us to an international treaty to activate the Peruvian presence throughout the Persian Gulf,” he said.
“They put two issues that interest them, such as investment in unconventional renewable energies, in hydroelectric energy and in projects linked to green hydrogen,” he said finally.
He pointed out that they are very happy for the reception and return with a lot of work and challenges.
He said that in Perumin of September of this year, the largest mining convention in Peru and one of the most important in Latin America, will have a technical and political delegation of Saudi Arabia of the Ministry of Industries and Mineral Resources.
“We are going to give them the space to articulate with Peruvian mining companies. They offer capitals, technology and markets,” he noted.
He added that with the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Investments, the companies of that country related to natural gas, oil and petrochemicals with Peruvian companies are being articulated.
“We are very close to starting to articulate conversations that eventually allow Saudi capitals in our country,” he said.
