GRan enthusiastic of the automotive industry, one of the saviors of Seat and now of Renault, Luca de Meo presented in October of last year his book sentimental dictionary of the car that already reaped great success in France and will now also be available in Spanish. From April 30 and published under the Deusto label, of the Planeta Group, the title will be available in Argentina in digital format.
Organized as an alphabet of stories, anecdotes and reflections, the book invites you to travel the history and culture of the car from a personal and passionate look. In each entry, De Meo combines curious data, intimate memories, testimonies of sector referents and analysis of the current challenges of an industry in constant transformation. Designers, businessmen and renowned pilots also contribute their voices along the pages.
In addition to the close and evocative tone that covers the book, the publication has a solidarity objective: copyright will be donated to the Candelita Association, which in Spain helps women in vulnerability to obtain the driving license, thus facilitating their access to employment. It is an initiative similar to that promoted in France, where the books of the book are allocated to young people in unfavorable contexts.
With a look that goes from intimate to the global, by Meo explores issues such as the impact of electrical mobility, Chinese emerge in the European market, the history of iconic models such as 2 hp, Seat Panda or Fiat 600, and even the role of cars in cinema and comic – from James Bond to Tintin. There is also room for tributes to Route 66 or the peculiarity of roundabouts, reflecting how the car has intertwined with popular culture and modern urbanism.
Passionate about the motor world since his childhood – a hobby that began at age seven after a walk in Lancia Fulvia – Luca de Meo has built a career of more than three decades in industry giants such as Fiat, Toyota, Volkswagen and Seat. Currently at the head of Renault Group, he also presided over the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).
Sentimental dictionary of the car is also a choral work. Figures such as Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, and SUCTAR PICHAI, CEO of Google, add their prospects to enrich this emotional and technical portrait of the automotive universe.
