This Friday, May 2, there was an episode that generated great fear and concern in two Pocitanas families because two neighboring minors were the protagonists of a fact that in principle was thought to be for the use of a firearm, but then it was discovered that one of the minors had been injured by a compressed air rifle.
After 7 pm, a 9 -year -old was injured with a projectile thrown by another minor of the same age, who manipulated a compressed air rifle that his father had in a van and he had taken it out to hunt birds, as explained to the prosecutors of the generic UFI prosecutors who were present in the place of the event.
The episode occurred on Lemos Street and July 9, in the Pocito department, in an area of farms where both families involved in the case live, who are neighbors.
As explained by the judicial sources about the incident, the minors joined to play and one of the boys took out their father’s rifle. Without wanting he was shot and caused the wound of the other minor in the navel, where the projectile was housed.
When that happened, the owner of the rifle and father of the child who manipulated him came out to help the injured minor and attended him. At that time came the victim’s mother who did not understand what was happening and between despair and concern transferred the creature to the Rawson Hospital.
There the doctors found that it was not a serious injury and it had not been caused by a firearm, but by a compressed air rifle, as explained by the owner of the weapon to the judicial authorities that interviewed him.
According to what they explained from the intervening UFI, the injured minor was hospitalized and was going to be intervened to extract the small projectile that had been housed in his abdomen, without presenting any risk for his life.
The mother of the injured child would not present charges against the owner of the rifle or her family because she would understand that it was an accident. As for the rifle and its owner, Dr. Alejandra Bazán, requested that he be kidnapped and that the owner be taken a statement.
The process will continue to determine responsibilities by the owner of the weapon and if the necessary care and custody of the weapon took into account, so that their minor children could not access it.
Because they are two minors involved in the fact, directives will be requested from the Court of Minors on duty.
