A blurred Baxi Manresa fit his second consecutive defeat on Saturday by falling bluntly in the Nou Congost before the Breogán River (93-104), a stumbling block that compromises his options to qualify for the ‘playoff’ while guaranteeing the permanence of the Galicians.
Thus, in the absence of four games to be played, the Catalan team closes the day in classification positions for the qualifiers for the title but tied with Baskonia and Dreamland Gran Canaria, who did win their matches.
Condemned by a disastrous first half (35-59), the team led by Diego Ocampo showed a better face after the break, but neither the 24 points of the Povert Derrick Alston JR, nor the 15 of the young Base Mario Saint-Supery were enough to turn the scoreboard.
The Manresa, despite being knowing that he could not afford another stumbling block to not see the ticket to the ‘playoff’, jumped to the Nou Congost something nervous.
Opposite, a Breogán without great expectations, but without the pressure of the classification, started with great intensity and success. A triple of Kurucs (7-16, min. 5) allowed them to open an advantage of nine points, which led Diego Ocampo to ask for a dead time to try to stop the escape on the scoreboard.
However, the Galician coach’s settings barely disturbed a look that found Touré in painting and free throws, his reef to expand his advantage and close the first quarter with a comfortable difference (15-30, min.10).
Cutted by the erratic start of the game and with several ball losses that hindered any reaction attempt, Manresa did not find a way to stop a breogan that, far from forming, with a Nakic basket reached a maximum income of 20 points (19-39, min.13).
For more turns that gave the team, Ocampo did not know how to find the formula to put a hand to the Breoganista team, who administered the loot and took advantage of another loss of a blurred Alston Jr. to, from the free kick line, close the first half with a resounding 35-59.
Nor the passage through changing rooms managed to fix the broken party. Breogán, unleashed from Triple, stretched the advantage to thirty points (38-68, min. 22), before an apathetic manresa, unable to react even after the loud whistle that fired them on the way to the tunnel.
The Saint-Supery spark, Cate’s power and the second triple of Alston Jr. made up the bleeding at the close of the third quarter (61-85, min. 30), in a game already without much history in which only the final result remained to decipher.
Although Manresa managed to make up the result with several baskets, the reaction was late, when the disadvantage was still around twenty points after a triple of Grant that silenced a Nou Congost (72-93, min.34).
In the last bars, Breogán raised his foot and Manresa took advantage of him to make up to the final 93-104 that puts him in trouble in the fight for the ‘play-off’.
