
Students of the Bernardo O’Higgins military School of the Chilean Army May 2 and 3 participated in Patrol competition Sandhurst 2025 organized by the Academia Militar West Point of the United States.
The event is held annually since 1967 and receives its name in allusion to the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst From the United Kingdom, a team that this year gave to the West Point Military Academy the sword of a British officer to use as a prize in a competition and promote military excellence.
The purpose of this competition is to demonstrate excellence in the military skills of future army officers, competing in a rigorous and uncertain environment, in addition to demonstrating leadership capabilities of small combat units.
This contest gives the student capabilities to face changing situations of the battlefield, thus allowing the importance of teamwork and the discipline that a unit must have to face different missions.
Testing capabilities
The Bernardo O’Higgins Military School of the Chilean Army has participated in Sandhurst Since 2009 and as in each edition the members of their team have prepared, mainly, in their free time, for this demanding international event.
In Sandhurst 2025 teams of military academies of Germany, Canada, Chile, United States, Philippines, France, Japan, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom and Thailand, participate.
Each competitive team, composed of eight men and one woman plus two reservations, will face Sandhurst 2025 Tests such as gun, rifle and launching shot; boat navigation; day and night guidance track, general knowledge test and doctrine; Obstacle career and transport of injured, among others.
The winner of the competition will be defined according to the performance of the equipment in each of the obstacles, as well as the speed with which they are finished. The rest of the teams will receive a participation certificate signed by the commander of the United States Corps of Cadets (USCC).
The team of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps that you get first place you will receive the Cup Sandhurst ROTC, The best international team will get the Cup Internacional Sandhurst And the teams that are located between the first to fifth place will receive the medal Sandhurst.
