Jerusalem, May 4 (EFE) .- The Israeli army seeks to mobilize thousands of reservists in order to expand its offensive in the Gaza Strip, military sources informed Efe, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the “final objective” of the attacks in the Palestinian enclave is “the victory” over Hamas.
As the sources indicated this Sunday, the reservists mobilization will occur “in the next few days”, and local media explain that this mobilization responds to Israel’s intention to significantly expand its offensive in Gaza.
The Chief of the Staff of the Army, Eyal Zamir, confirmed hours later in a visit to the Naval Base of Atlit that the Army is broadcasting this week “tens of thousands of orders calling for rows” of reserve soldiers in order to “strengthen and expand” the operations in Gaza.
“As we increase the pressure to recover our staff and defeat Hamas, we will operate in additional areas and destroy all the infrastructure on and underground,” Zamir said in the meeting, according to a military statement.
