The British royal family met just a few weeks ago to celebrate Easter. King Carlos III, accompanied by his wife Camila and other members of his family, presided over the religious service in the Chapel of San Jorge. An unavoidable appointment for the Windsor every year, to which the princes of Wales and their children were missing, which this year opted for a different plan with the family of Kate Middleton.
Despite the absence of the princes, the day had another great protagonist. This is one of the nephews of King Carlos III, James, son of the Dukes of Edinburgh. The 17 -year -old monopolized all eyes for his impressive physical change, already higher than his father.

The grandson of Queen Elizabeth II is, along with his sister Lady Louise, one of the most discreet members of the royal family. The two children of the Dukes of Edinburgh -The Wessex Condes-, maintain a discreet profile and only participate in official acts in a timely manner, when they have an important family relevance.
Their parents never wanted them to carry titles, nor real high -halling treatment, despite the fact that because they are the grandchildren of Monarch, they are now to the children of the Dukes of Sussex. This decision was motivated because the couple wanted their offspring to enjoy a life as normal as possible. Princess Ana also followed this strategy with her children -most who James and Louise -while Prince Andrés did want her daughters to take a princess title.

A discreet profile
James is one of the grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II the youngest and probably the most unknown. That is why when he accompanied his parents to Easter in Windsor, all the foci were put in him. It is not usual for James to participate in official acts, so every time the changes are seen, they are notable.
Although much is known about him, he has transpired that he is passionate about Scotland and that He loves spending time at Balmoral Castlesomething he shared with his grandmother. There he practices some activities, including fly fishing. An activity that, by the way, had a lot of the queen mother, Isabel Bowes-Lyon.
-When he was born, James occupied the eighth place in the line of succession, But it has been further going down with the arrival of the children of the princes of Wales, of the Dukes of Sussex or the Princesses Beatriz and Eugenia de York. He spent much of his childhood in the house of the Dukes of Edinburgh, Bagshot Park And although he does not have an official role -he is not expected to have it -in 2015 he participated in an act abroad with his parents, in a visit to South Africa.

James’s title
Both his mother and his father have commented on more than one occasion than They did not want their children to feel the pressure of being members of the royal family and that they were aware that, in the future, they would have to make a living by their own means. “We try to educate them knowing that most likely they have to work to make a living”said the duchess in statements to The Sunday Times In 2020. Carlos III’s sister -in -law explained that that is why they preferred that they did not have real alteration treatment, although they correspond to them and may decide to use them from their age of majority. At the moment, Lady Louise has preferred not to take him and everything indicates that his brother will follow the same path.
Nevertheless, The title that James has inherited is that of Count of Wessex. This title was granted to Prince Eduardo by Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of his link. He himself asked for this title – of less rank – because he liked the character who took him in the movie Shakespeare in Love. However, he reached the agreement with his parents that he would be the Next Duke of Edinburghafter the death of his father. Carlos III complied with this agreement, but with some nuances.

The monarch made it clear that this title cannot transfer to the next generation, so that when Eduardo dies he will return to the crown. Some sources say that this responds to the desire of the head of the state that his granddaughter Carlota is one day Duchess of Edinburgh. At the moment, there is no official information about it.
However, James has inherited the title of Count of Wessexeven ahead of his sister Lady Louise even though he is greater than him. This is due to the norms that governed the transfer of titles at the time of birth: the firstborn of male preference. This rule changed with the 2013 Crown Succession Law (which was introduced just before the birth of Prince George), but only applies to those born after October 28, 2011.
