shelter, economic and social , are three factors that in the opinion of Senator David Sandoval must be common denominators for the development of the Aysén region, based on the enhancement of one of the most relevant activities for the area, such as the aquaculture industry.
Aysén.- And this, the parliamentarian raised it in Aquaforum 2025, activity carried out in recent days, in Puerto Chacabuco. “We saw artisanal fishermen, the salmon industry, the company Friosur, Mowi, Salmotonchile, among others. What concluded in that issue is that they want to be part of this effort, of this development, but they need certainty and securities,” he explained.

Along with highlighting the importance of the meeting held, the parliamentarian also recalled what was developed at the end of 2024, where the scenario facing the region in the coming decades was addressed. “Last year, also in Puerto Chacabuco we had a meeting where the Minister (Mario) Marcel and the former ministers, Ignacio Briones and Andrés Velasco participated, connected from England. This was the interest of this meeting and what we were looking for at that , where we are going to take the region to 2050,” he said.

In that context, the legislator pointed out that “the salmon are defining a structure in the development of the industry to 2050” and therefore, in this forum developed on April 29, what was sought was to analyze these scenarios. “In that definition I believe that you have to agree, that there is a trilogy of elements where the environmental shelter, economic development and social welfare, must be common denominators, because here we do not get anything with imposing conditions on the fact that there is not to do absolutely anything, because the only one that loses is exclusively the people of the Aysén region,” he said.

However, the parliamentarian stressed that “the most incredible thing is that being such a strategic activity, the activity that generates more resources in our country after copper, where if this production is over, more than 6,000 million dollars fall in terms of export.”
