AMR25 will have 2026 solutions from the middle of the season

Aston Martin continues in his difficult period. Even in Miami, the Silverstone -based team did not get very good results, although four points were brought home and settled in the seventh position of the construction championship with 14 points harvested so far.

As you had already revealed Motorsport.comAston Martin decided to use AMR25 as a kind of laboratory to try to find the proper correlation between the new infrastructure – especially the wind tunnel – and the track in order to be prepared for 2026, the year of the regulatory changes from the technical point of view.

Andy Cowell, team director and CEO of Aston Martin Racing, confirmed this intention when intervening in the Miami Grand Prix, played during the weekend that has just been completed.

“One thing we are determined to do is try to improve our correlation. So we will throw pieces to the track, some of which will be more test than final updates. They will see it in the next races. But we are determined to go …”.

“There is a lot of effort to make in the 2026 car, so with the resources we have we do not want to waste them. The resources of 2025 do not want to waste them. And we are very, very interested in ensuring that we improve the set of tools that we have and improve the approaches we use. So I suspect that those are the reasons why the season is different from normal.”

It will not be just a matter of correlation between infrastructure, tools and track. The AMR25, from the second half of this season, will become full laboratories, being equipped with certain components destined for the car next year. According to Silverstone engineers, this will be the best way to get prepared at the end of January, when the first winter tests in Barcelona are held.

“There are some technologies for AMR26 that will be tested in the race with 25,” Cowell confirmed. “The only way to know that something is ready to compete is whether it has competed and worked. So we are using the 25 car to try new technologies. And we will see it in the second half of the season.”

“But we are working on some aerodynamic and dynamic aspects of the vehicle that we want to introduce in this car to refine the tools we have in a relatively young team that now operates with the tools that large equipment has had for decades.”
