The business and workers of Peru expressed their most felt to the families of the 13 workers killed in the of Pataz, in La Libertad, victims of a criminal gang linked to illegal mining.

Through a statement, they condemned this atrocious crime that reveals the alarming degree of violence and impunity to which the organized crime that operates in areas dominated by illegal economies has reached. “All this, despite the current declaration of an emergency and presence in the region,” they say.

In their statement, they point out that this fact is not an isolated case.

“Not only mining entrepreneurs and workers are constantly threatened and attacked by criminals, but also workers in all sectors, as well as peasants and entrepreneurs completely,” they argue.

Given this scenario, businessmen and workers made an urgent call to the to act with immediate decision, leadership and decision to suppress and eradicate organized crime.

“It is essential to design and implement a coherent public policy that allows to combat and cancel it; a true transparent and sustainable business formalization of the mining sector, for the benefit of all Peruvians,” they say.

They notice that in the country it cannot be allowed to allow entire regions to be kidnapped by illegality. “Peru needs a present , with authority and ability to protect life, decent and formal ,” they argue.
