The Automotive Tram Union (UTA) confirmed a national strike of short and medium distance groups for this Tuesday, May 6, after the failure of the salary negotiations with the business chambers and the lack of concrete proposals by the government. The measure will affect more than 300 lines throughout the country, including the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), and will run for 24 hours, from 00:00 to midnight on Wednesday, May 7.
Salary claim and lack of agreement
The guild, led by Roberto Fernández, demands an increase in the basic salary of $ 1,200,000 to $ 1,700,000, according to accumulated inflation. Business chambers offered a remunerative increase of less than 6% for the February-June period, in addition to non-remunerative sums of $ 40,000 in May, $ 50,000 in June and $ 70,000 in July, a proposal that the UTA considered insufficient and “a disrespect.”
The union secretary Gabriel Gusso said that “unemployment is confirmed for tomorrow” and that “there is no reason for us to raise it.”
Meeting at the Ministry of Labor
This Monday afternoon, the UTA, the Business Chambers and the Secretary of Labor, Julio Cordero, have a game by videoconference to try to unlock the conflict. However, expectations are low, since the government did not present a specific proposal and companies do not have a cost structure or resolutions regarding rates.
-Interior Minister Guillermo Francos, asked the UTA to suspend unemployment and sit down to negotiate with the new Secretary of Transportation, Luis Pierini, but acknowledged that the government “does not have the possibility of mandatory conciliation” and that, if the UTA wants to keep unemployment, “it can do it.”

Unemployment will affect more than 300 groups of groups throughout the country. On the other hand, some lines operated by the company Dota may not adhere to unemployment. The Dota director, Marcelo Pasciuto, declared that the decision of the driver will be respected if he decides to serve or join the salary claim.
Impact inside the country
In Córdoba, the Local Delegation of the UTA confirmed its adhesion to unemployment, unless the national driving indicates otherwise. The union secretary Gabriel Gusso lamented the lack of official dialogue and pointed out that “there will be no agreement except that silver appears.”
