The virtual presentation of the book THEORETICAL PROBLEMS TO THE CONCEPT OF INTERVENTION IN SOCIAL work: Latin American Perspectiveswill take place this Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. It is a collective work edited by Chilean academic Víctor Rodrigo Yáñez Pereira. The activity will be broadcast live through the Facebook page of the Hendija Ediciones, the publisher in charge of the publication.
The book proposes a critical review of the concept of intervention in the field of social work, moving away from merely technical or procedural visions. Instead, it raises the intervention as a dynamic process, in permanent tension, crossed by ideological disputes, institutional challenges and ethical positions. The work is built from a Latin American look that recognizes the complexity of the social realities of the region, marked by deep inequalities, multiple structural violence and forms of community resistance.
The publication brings together texts from recognized professionals and academics in the countryside, including Miguel Bautista Miranda, Martín Sánchez Villal, Leonel del Prado, Roxana Enough, Sandra Leopold Calabile, Sandra Sande Muletaber, Alejandro Gabriel Mariatti Acosta, César Tello, Eduardo Daniel López, Cecilia Silva Cabrera, María Eugenia Vicente and Editor himself and Editor himself, Víctor R. Yáñez Pereira. Each of them contributes from their experience and trajectory theoretical, methodological and political perspectives that enrich the debate about the role of social workers in contemporary contexts.
One of the central axes of the book is the need to rethink the intervention as a located act, which cannot be disconnected from the social, political and historical framework in which it develops. In that sense, it is proposed that intervening is not simply applying techniques, but also building knowledge in dialogue with communities, recognizing tensions, contradictions and limits. This perspective seeks to dispute senses within the professional field itself, against speeches that tend to simplify or neutralize the transformative potential of social work.
The publishing house also reported that the book is already available for acquisition at the Salacharcos bookstore (Gualeguaychú 167) Monday through Friday during running hours and Saturdays in the morning. It can also be acquired online through https: //www.lahendija.org.ar/products/problematizacionaciones-teoricas-al-Co …
This new publication is part of an editorial line that seeks to recover and disseminate critical voices of Latin American social thought, with a strong anchor in territorial practices. At a time when public policies are stressed by regressive agendas, proposals such as this acquire special relevance to rethink the ethical and political commitment of social disciplines in the defense of rights and social justice.
The virtual presentation will be open and free, and can be followed through the link https://www.facebook.com/lahendijaeditions
