
In order to agree on a robust legislative agenda for the country’s regions, Senators Yasna Provoste, Francisco Chahuán, José Miguel Insulza, Ricardo Lagos, José Durana, Paulina Núñez and Juan Castro as regionalist bench and the Association of Governors of Chile, met today in Senate and agreed to request the Senate table to authorize the creation of a specific subcommittee Regional in the processing of the 2026 budget.
“It is essential to improve the quality of life of our compatriots in the different communes, provinces and communes of the country, allowing progress in greater territorial equity and the strengthening of our democracy,” said the senator of Atacama, Yasna Provoste.
Likewise, the legislator explained that the idea is to continue deepening the coordination and joint work that has already been advanced in the processing of the 2025 budget for the preparatory works of the 2026 budget.
In addition, Provoste, in the field of legislative agenda, commented that it is relevant to advance in the formulation and approval of a constitutional reform that allows us to provide financial autonomy to regional governments by promoting a high -level work commission with the Executive that accompanies the sense of urgency and opportunity for the measure.
-Also, the Atacama representative added that it was agreed to propose to the Senate table that the creation of a specific budget subcommittee for regional governments for the processing of the 2026 budget is authorized.
For his part, the president of Agorechi, Pablo Silva said they will strengthen support for the work table already made up of Dipres and Comptroller.
Finally, the leader of the governors of Chile, clarified that the Regionalist Bank of Senators and the Association of Governors of Chile agreed to meet again during the second semester of 2025 to evaluate budget execution 2025, the guidelines of the 2026 budget, as well as the legislative and administrative advances that are developed in the coming months.
