Three police officers were arrested after a young man denounced on social networks that he suffered extortion while returning to the city of Maracaibo, in the Zulia state, from Colombia.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 13 at the Alcabala de Sinamaica, located in the Zulia state, when agents of the Bolivarian National Police approached the victim, who was traveling with $ 1,435 in cash, and tried to intimidate him.
According to the complaint, the officers made a search and, seeing that he had money, asked how much his freedom was worth. Before the young man’s refusal, who said he was not committing any crime, one of the agents warned him that they could falsely accuse him.
-If not accessing their demands, officials threatened to stop him. The young man said that, fearing for his safety, he agreed to deliver the money in exchange for causing him to harm him.

The general commander of the Bolivarian National Police, Rubén Santiago, confirmed that, after receiving the complaint through social networks, an investigation into the behavior of the officials involved began.
“From the Bolivarian National Police Corps we reiterate our commitment to justice and the protection of the rights of all Venezuelans,” Santiago said.
This case was also shared by Diosdado Cabello, Minister of Interior, who affirmed: “The revolutionary government of President Nicolás Maduro does not tolerate vagabunderías or corruption. The one who deviates, who responds and assumes the consequences. Here the law falls who falls.”
The young man later confirmed, disseminated by the authorities, the arrest of the three officials of the Bolivarian National Police who extorted and threatened him.
