Abraham Duarte will be the new rector of the Rey Juan Carlos University for the next six years, after reaping 50.76% of the votes and imposing himself in the second round of the elections to Fernando García Muiña that has been made with 45.27% of the votes, the blank vote represents 3.96%. In the absence of the count of the last two tables of sector C (students) of the Fuenlabrada campus, the final result would not change the winner of the elections.
The second round, scheduled initially for last Tuesday, April 29, was finally postponed until May 6 due to the blackout suffered by the Iberian Peninsula on April 28.
The second round of the elections was held after a first, held on April 2, in which none of the candidates got 50% of the votes. On that occasion, the most voted candidate was Fernando García Muiña with 49’11% of the votes while Abraham Duarte got 46.60 of the votes cast.
