2025 – 2026 school calendar in Madrid: course without barely holidays, longer and latest Christmas holidays

Revolution in the school calendar of the Community of Madrid planned for the 2025-2026 course. The Ministry of Education has communicated the start and end of course dates from September, which come with many changes with respect to other years.

The first is that the number of holidays will be very small since the coincidence of some libranzas of the labor calendar on Saturday makes only two regional holidays and two other premises during the school period. These will be the Immaculate day (December 8) and Labor Day (May 1). In addition, in Madrid Capital will be added on November 10 (transfer of the Almudena) and May 15 (San Isidro).

The other great change is that of Christmas holidays, which will be the longest in recent years to compensate for the lack of holidays of other years: they will begin on Saturday, December 20 and will run until Wednesday, January 7, one day after Reyes.

In addition, non -school days are ahead of date. If the previous courses had been placed on dates close to the Carnival, for 2025-2026 several months are carried out, in order to form two school bridges at the beginning of the course. The first non -school day will be Monday, October 13, just after Hispanic Day. And the second on November 3, after the weekend of all the Saints.

The course will begin on Monday, September 8 for Infant and Primary, while Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training will start on Tuesday 9 of the same month. On September 10, it will be the start for the students of higher artistic teachings, on September 18 the adult education centers will begin their school activity and on the 19th the plastic arts and design cycles of art schools.

The course will end on June 19 in the second cycle of Infant, Primary, Special Education, ESO, FP, Artistic Teachings of Music, Professional Conservatories of Music and Dance, Official Schools of Languages, Arts of Art and Adult Education.

The students of 1st Baccalaureate will also conclude this day, while for those of 2nd year the dates will adapt to the needs derived from the realization of the final evaluation and the admission procedures in the universities. And children’s schools and children’s houses will conclude the course on July 31.
