The population of Spain has registered a new historical to 49,153,849 inhabitants in the quarter of 2025, with an of 75,865, thanks especially to the increase in foreign population (95,363 more), as can be seen from the continuous population statistics that the National Statistics Institute (INE) has published on . Meanwhile, the population diminished in 19,498 people.

Meanwhile, the population born abroad, from 9,498,002 people, was greater than that of foreign nationality, of 6,947,711, due to the processes of acquisitions of Spanish nationality.

For its part, the number of foreigners increased by 95,363 people the quarter, to 6,947,711. The population of Spanish nationality decreased by 19,498. In annual terms, the estimated population growth was 429,977 people.

The main nationalities of immigrants during the first quarter of 2025 were the Colombian (with 39,800 arrivals in Spain), the Moroccan (25,900) and the Venezuelan (25,000).

Meanwhile, the most numerous nationalities of the emigrants were the Moroccan (with 13,900 departures), the Colombian (13,500) and the Spanish (10,300).

By communities, during the first quarter of 2025 the population grew in almost all autonomous communities and in the autonomous city of Melilla. Instead, it descended in the Balearic Islands, Extremadura and the Autonomous City of Ceuta. The greatest increases were given in the Community of Madrid (0.45%), the Valencian Community (0.37%) and the Region of Murcia (0.26%).

Finally, INE statistics reveals that the number of households stood at 19,523,824 to April 1, 2025, with an increase of 26,698 during the first quarter of 2025.
