The I Edition of the ‘Street Soccer’ Tournament of the Atlético de Madrid Foundation will be held on Saturday, June 7. The event, which in the first instance was going to take place in March and was postponed by heavy rains, has opened the Registration form.
The tournament will be held in the black esplanade of Madrid Río (Explanade Multiusos de Arganzuela) thanks to the support of Department of Sports of the Madrid City Council, as well as the municipal boards of the districts of Arganzuela and Centro.
The ‘street football’ tournament seeks to recover the essence of the usual football, that of a lifetime, in a 3×3 model with a double objective: to live an unforgettable day of football and challenges and rehabilitate a court to “return football to the neighborhood”.
Registration maintains the symbolic price of € 1 and the requirements to participate are simple: being of legal age, forming a team of 4 players and being willing to enjoy the usual football.
“It will be a great football party, we want to demonstrate that sport and in this case football can have a great impact and help transform society. The main objective is to return football to the neighborhood. The ball is an excellent tool to generate community and boost healthy lifestyle habits,” says Adelardo Rodríguez, president of the Atlético Foundation in Madrid.
The matches will be played simultaneously on the four courts enabled. The main track will house challenges throughout the day, with various awards and rewards, and the final phase of the tournament.
The participants of the ‘Street Soccer’ tournament will decide with their votes, between the two candidates, the court that will be rehabilitated during the 2025-2026 season and in which the Atlético de Madrid Foundation will launch a social school for children in vulnerability.
The event has the support of Foundation La Caixa, Coca-Cola, Kraken, Riyadh Air and Nike.
