The past April 30, 2025, Rosom actively participated in the event Digital Paper held in the Genil boat stap (Granada)a technical day organized by Emasagra which brought together outstanding voices of the water and environmental sector to reflect on the impact of climate change in the Integral Water Cycle.
A space to rethink infrastructure against climatic challenges
The session was inaugurated by Manuel Francodirector of Granada Dinapsiswho highlighted the urgent need to adapt infrastructure to the current climate context.
“The climate that comes is not a future scenario, but a present that transforms our decisions,” he said.
In his speech, he appealed to the creation of new alliances between public and private, between science and management, and between data and decisionusing the tools that science, technology and innovation offer.
Dialog on adaptation, decarbonization and innovation in water management
The event was attended by Catalina BallowerDirector of Environmental Solutions of Veolia Spainwho contributed his expert vision of decarbonization processes. Next, a dialogue table focused on the effects of climate change on water management and adaptation strategies that are adopting the entities of the sector.
Representatives of Emasagra, Hidralia, Rosom y Symrisewho addressed key issues such as the role of innovation in climate adaptation projects, the necessary improvements in the collaboration between operators, industry, administrations and citizenshipand the ways to achieve an effective climatic transition.
Emasesa presents her actions against climate change
During the round table, Francisco José Juan Rodríguezdirector of Sustainability and innovation From Emasesa, he presented the main initiatives that the Metropolitan Company of Seville is implementing in response to climate change. Among them, he stressed:
- The citizen awareness campaign Objective 90
- The reduction of losses in the distribution network
- The project Digital reservoir 5.0which promotes the digitalization of the integral water cycle with support from the funds of the LOSS Water digitalization
It also valued the importance of collaboration between different actors as a fundamental element for an effective climatic transition, citing as an example the work of the EMASESA WATER OBSERVATORYa space oriented to transparency and commitment to citizens.
Synergies between water, energy and circular economy
Francisco José Juan also pointed out the growing interrelation between the Water management, energy and other essential servicesand its link with the Circular economy. In this regard, he detailed actions such as:
- The Waste co -instrument In wastewater purifying stations (WWTP)
- The photovoltaic and hydroelectric energy generation
- The OPTIMIZATION OF OPERATIONAL CONTROLS To adapt energy consumption to real demand
Keys to accelerate climate action from water managers
In his final speech, the representative of Emasesa stressed that the Climate action It requires three fundamental pillars:
- Intersectoral collaboration
- Technological innovation as a transformation engine
- Citizen Education and Sensitization
These elements, as he said, are essential to advance a model of resilient and sustainable water management in the current context of climate emergency.
