The announcement of a high three -day fire by Russia, which will take place from May 8 to 10, has raised diverse reactions in the context of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of the famous French leader Charles de Gaulle, has expressed his support to this measure, pointing out that it could be a step towards peace. This high fire coincides with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of victory over Nazism, which, according to De Gaulle, adds an important symbolism to the current situation.

In an interview with RT, Pierre de Gaulle said that “Russia is a peaceful people. Russia doesn’t want war. Russia wants peace”. This statement reflects a perspective that contrasts with the predominant narrative in many Western media, where Russia is often presented as the aggressor in this conflict. De Gaulle also expressed his desire for France to play a role in the restoration of peace in Europe, suggesting that the decisions of the current French government are “Contrary to common sense and reason”.

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged Ukraine to respect the high fire, warning that any violation by the Ukrainian forces would result in a “Provided and efficient response”. This warning occurs in a context in which the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has accused Moscow of “handling” and has requested a high immediate fire of 30 days, adding a layer of complexity to peace negotiations.
