Aguascalientes, AGS.- The capital city has been running out of green areas that represent an ecological lung, so it is imperative to take care of the miqueching pona and that becomes that ecological space protected by law due to the amount of water it generates to the state, lamented the biologist Ethel Martínez, who participates in the activist collective of the area.
“It is essential that the pona can be legitimized as a natural area protected by all the services it provides and that we are clear that there is no other natural area protected in the city of Aguascalientes,” he emphasized.
-Martínez explained that the Pona has a record of 5,600 mesquite trees over an area of 33 hectares, which would be generating around 42 billion liters of annual water throughout the state; In addition to highlighting the ecosystem regeneration capacity.
“Two expert opinions have been applied, one in the year 2022 and another in 2023, where it was established that the pona has trees with an age between 40 to 50 years, time that coincides with the construction of the second ring ring of the city where that part was already devastated. But it is impressive the ability it has to self -recreate, since many mosques also continued to grow, even when they have been fire,” he said.
The group Save the Pona began a surveillance camp in the pona, due to the possibility that the area becomes a fractionation; Because in practice it is a private property.
